Evaluation Question 4:

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
First of all, Joey and I did some basic research into horror movies using the internet. We used iTunes Horror Movies to look at horror movie trailers and increase our knowledge of typical conventions used in them. I believe this helped us a lot in the construction of our trailer as we got to look at horror movies from the past, present and future and use that to make ours appeal to the future generation. Using the internet made our research and planning a lot easier.
To begin filming Joey and I decided we would use his own camera and tripod so that we weren't stuck with the responsibility of someone elses. This made it a lot easier to film as we already knew everything about that specific camera and no more time was needed to learn about it. After filming, we used iMovie HD to do the editing. This gave us the chance to make our trailer look more professional and detailed by adding in titles, music and pictures. Due to our research we knew roughly what we wanted our trailer to look like and iMovie let us do this. Before this task, I had never used iMovie before, so it was all very new to me. Thankfully Joey has had previous experience in this piece of software so he taught me a lot. At first, we just messed about whilst editing. It gave us the chance to see what the trailer would like with and without certain shots, with different length shots and different amounts of shots. The purpose of this was to see what worked best. Whilst doing this, we realised short quick shots worked to build the tension in the trailer which was a convention we saw in other horror movie trailers. I found iMovie the best way to edit our trailer. It did everything and more to help make our trailer look exactly how we wanted it to look.
In terms of our Movie poster and Magazine cover we used Adobe Photoshop to create the perfect poster and magazine cover. During our research we looked at many magazines and movie posters. Before this task, I had used Photoshop before so I found this task a lot easier than the editing of the trailer. I also knew how to use DaFont.com to download fonts and use them in Photoshop. Although I was confident using Photoshop, there were some things I was not sure on doing. Things like adding emphasis on certain parts of the images without it looking fake was very hard for me but after a lot of trial and error with the opacity it worked very well.
Whilst making my blog, I was worried about making it varied in terms of the ways I communicate with the viewer (i.e. presentations, videos, posts). I am very proud of my blog as I managed to use websites that I had not preivously used such as Prezi.com and Slideshare.com. I personally found using these websites very hard but managed to overcome this difficulty and persevere.

Evaluation Question 3:

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Joey and I collected feedback in a couple different ways:
I have made a post on feedback which you can read from this link: Feedback.
We received feedback for our trailer, movie poster and magazine cover when we thought we had finished them all. The majority of people we spoke to were people within our target audience (teens or horror fanatics) so this helped us make our campaign appeal more to our target audience.
Changes were made after feedback was taken and now on our facebook page, people have said that the poster, trailer and magazine cover looks a lot like a real campaign and the horror genre is really obvious. Our audience feedback gave us a chance to understand what they think of what when they think of horror films and incorporate that into our campaign. Things included colours of titles, images and professionalism.
Charlie Ward was a main part of our audience feedback as he looks at our trailer in a way professional way. His feedback was very positive. His only critique was to emphasise the shock of the titling. This we did with a white flash. Our music also increased the shock and tension and the audience have said the music is a very important part of our trailer and ours makes our trailer a lot more tense and horrific.

Evaluation Question 2:

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
To promote our new horror movie, Joey and I created many different ways of getting it out and seen by our peers and the public.
Marketing campaign
View more presentations from jessicajazz.

Recognition of genre:
After people watched our trailer, they said the genre of the film was really obvious. This was the main aim of the trailer and to attract our target audience. According to our target audience, our movie poster and magazine cover also represent the horror genre.
Internet:
Using websites such as Facebook and Youtube made our campaign more accessible to our peers. We found it the easiest way to get our campaign seen as most teenagers use the internet these days and teens are our target audience.

To promote our campaign, we wanted to find something unique about our trailer to use. Our Unique Selling Point is that it is set in a theatre. We also used the fact that our trailer is very British. Using these facts gave us the chance to reach out to a wider audience; not only those that like horror movies but people that are interested in drama and especially British drama. In terms of our trailer being British, it is very similar to Danny Boyle's 'Shallow Grave'. The pace is very similar and the shots we used are very similar. You can notice the film is British from the trailer, just like you can with ours.

Evaluation Question 1:

In what ways does your media products use, develop or challenge frms and conventions of real media products?

Director's commentary.
Joey and I did a director's commentary where we slowed down our trailer and talked over it, explaining where we used, developed and challenged conventions of real media products.
In many of the horror movie trailers I looked at during my research and planning, there were conventions I knew Joey and I would use such as short, fast paced shots to increase tension, an establishing shot, single lines to establish characters and shocking titles. These are conventions we used to make our trailer resemble many other horror movie trailers.
Usually horror movies are based around teenagers. We stuck to this convention to some extent as our target audience are teens and horror movie fanatics, but we added a Unique Selling Point (USP). Our USP, besides it being set in a theatre, is that we used a significantly younger child in our trailer and in this trailer it shows a clip of him drinking alcohol. This is to signify the increase in underage drinking today. It is also to shock the audience and make them want to see the film as the trailer never really shows what happens to the young boy.

The Magazine Cover.
This Prezi presentation I made shows how we mainly stuck to conventions used on horror movie magazines. I personally felt this was the best way to promote our film and this was proved true from our audience feedback we collected.

The Movie Poster:

I believe our movie poster uses many conventions used in professional horror movie posters such as font, images and production details. When we asked our peers to give feedback on it, they said that our poster really represented a horror movie.
Our trailer really portrays a horror movie. The dark and fast scenes increase the tension and suspense which is what the audience want. It keeps them wanting more and makes them want to go see the film. The thing about horror movie trailers that the audience love is the thrill and fear of it. I feel we have really captured this in our trailer.

Wednesday 15 December 2010

Feedback.

This is one of the ways we collected feedback on our magazine cover and film poster. We asked two of our peers (both teens interested in horror which is our target audience) what they thought of the magazine cover and film poster before changes were made. They both gave both positive and critical comments. We used the criticism to make changes to both pieces of work and make it more appealing to people like David and Lowri as they are a part of our target audience.

This is a slideshow of screen grabs I made of some feedback Joey and I received about our horror movie poster, our magazine cover and our video. (Slideshare.net is one of the pieces of software that we used throughout our task.) The feedback was very positive and it reassured us that what we wanted the audience to understand and feel really came across.

Monday 13 December 2010

Final Edit.

This is the final edit of our trailer. We took into consideration what Charlie Ward said and what our teachers and peers thought and made our final adjustments. We feel this trailer appeals to our target audience which is mainly teens and horror movie fanatics and with the help from our feedback we received, we believe our trailer looks quite professional and similar to many horror movie trailers out there today.

Charlie Ware.

Charlie Ware used to be a professional editor and we had the privilege of having him come into our lesson and give us some tips on our trailers.
We showed him our recently more edited one (edit number 2) and he gave us a few pointers on how to make it a lot more professional.
These tips were:

  • High frequency sounds to shock
  • Strobe effect or moving on titling
  • Perhaps white (for above note)
After these suggestions were made, we made some alterations to our trailer and now we have our final edit.

Friday 10 December 2010

Second Edit.

This is the second edit of our film trailer. It is shorter than the first one as we cut out a lot of un-necessary shots and made the whole trailer a lot snappier and increased the speed.

First Edit

This is the first edit of our horror movie trailer. It is a bit longer than we expected it to be so we now class it as our theatrical trailer. As it was a bit longer than we wanted it to be, it did seem to drag on a bit and we wanted to change this to increase the suspense, the tension and the speed. We feel this would make our trailer look a lot more like trailers today.

Film Poster.

As we had a few striking images, we had to narrow it down to our final image.
This is the picture we chose to use for our film poster:

At first Joey and I tried messing around with colours and levels in this picture to see what it looked like.

Finally we decided that we would make the whole image darker and then have a spotlight on the dead body in the middle. This would highlight the obvious and make the whole cover look more cynical.
In my opinion, deciding what font to use for the title was the hardest part of the cover. The font is a very important part as it can be used to hint what genre the film is.
Obviously we wanted our font to represent a horror so we downloaded a couple different fonts from Dafont.com.

We then decided to use the first one as it looks slightly old and has two masks in it representing the theme and USP of our film (being set in a theatre). After changing the font colour to red and adding the word '3D', we finally had our movie cover. Joey and I thought that making the film in 3D would attract a wider audience as it is a horror and in 3D (just like 'My Bloody Valentine 3D).

Magazine Cover.

Previously Joey and I had looked at a couple of different movie magazine covers such as Fangoria Magazine and Mad Magazine. Comparing them both, one is more commercial, looking as if the character is posing for the camera, whereas the other looks like a shot from the actual movie. We decided to make ours look more commercial, but keep the atmosphere and theme of the film.
Our original picture looked like this:

Originally this picture was too light for a horror movie magazine and the sides around the cast were too big. So, in photoshop, we cropped the image and using the brush tool, coloured it in all black. We then made the black opaque so the image looked darker.

After this, it was beginning to look a bit more like a horror magazine cover. We then needed to think about all the other aspects of a magazine cover. Things like the title, masthead, font, barcode etc.
We came up with a few different names for the magazine such as:
  • Dark News
  • Horror Times
  • Terrible Teeth
  • The Lost Limb
  • Mean Movies
We liked the idea of having using alliteration, so chose to use 'The Lost Limb' to be the title of our magazine cover.

As our image is very similar to a 50's horror cover, and slightly resembles a scooby-doo cover we wanted our font to be very bold and striking. This is why we chose this font and decided to have it in red.

All of our decisions were made and then changed due to audience feedback we received. This is in a video in another post.

To keep all of pictures we took in one place, I made a Flickr account. This will make it easier to see them all at the same time and for others to see them as well.

Health and Safety.

As any professional production company does, we had to be careful using our location so we did a health and safety check. I work at the location that we decided to film at, so therefore I know the building very well.
I filled in a table that stated:
  • The hazards
  • Associated risks
  • Persons at risk
  • Control measurements
  • Consequence rating
  • Likelihood rating
  • Risk rating

As I know the building so well, I know that I once made a diagram of the whole building and labeled where all the fire exits and fire extinguishers are. I thought this would be good to look at and show everyone involved in the filming.

Friday 19 November 2010

New Cast.

Joey and I are both still in the trailer. I am still playing the character of Vanessa, but Joey is now taking on the role of Morgan the boyfriend as well as the killer.
Edward Roberts as Jacob.
Jacob is now going to be Vanessa's little brother. We thought this would make the trailer a little more like a horror as in a lot of horror films there is always that one vulnerable character and who is more vulnerable than a child.
Edward has a very innocent, cute look which is perfect for his character.

Ashlee Sutherland:
Ashlee will now be playing Emily. She has a tough, tomboyish look with a weird coloured hair which is very similar to Hollie. This is perfect as we do not have to change much for her character.

Set Backs.

The day of shooting arrived and Joey and I had received some bad news. Our lead actor (Hollie Bowden) had some family commitments and was unable to make it. Obviously this was devastating news as she had the perfect look for the character ‘Emily’ but fortunately I had an actor friend that lived not too far from our location that had a similar look. Thankfully she was available, so not much had to be changed. Unfortunately as time went on another actor (Kyle Lo Monaco) revealed he was unable to attend the filming. As there was so little time, we really had no idea what to do as it was the only day we could have the location. Joey and I then agreed to change the synopsis a tad, and use my little brother to star in the trailer. We thought it would work because there are children in many other horror films and we would like to repeat this convention.
In real life situations, things are not always going to go the way we plan them, just like this situation but you have to get over them and plan ahead, which we did. I now have to make some changes to some of the planning I did.

Magazine.

Thinking about our magazine cover, we had to think about many things such as:
  • Title
  • Image
  • Other wording
  • Other pictures
Title:
The Title is the most important thing on the cover of the magazine beside the main image. We decided to make our title very bold and noticeable, just like the one in the above image.
Image:
The main image on this magazine is very gory and detailed. We want to challenge this convention by having a very commercial picture on the front of our magazine, such as a posed picture of the cast rather than a still of the actual film.
Other Wording:
This magazine has some words around the side of the image but hardly any over the image itself. We want to resemble this as we think the image will be very striking and important.
Other Pictures:
Unlike this magazine cover, we do not want any other images on our magazine cover as we believe (as we said before) the main image can stand on its own.

Filming Schedule.

To make sure we get everything done in the time we had to film, we arranged a filming schedule. It tells us what time we shoot each shot, what/who is needed in terms of props and characters and where it is shot. We think this will make filming a lot quicker and more efficient and therefore we can get a lot more done.

Monday 8 November 2010

Possible Titles.

Deciding what the name of our film was going to be was a very hard and important decision to make. We thought about what would relate to the film's synopsis without giving too much away.
Throughout the year there are specific times when a horror movie comes out. At times the name of this film will determine when it will come out by having a date or time in it such as 'Friday the 13th', 'Halloween' and 'My bloody valentine'. Using this as inspiration we thought of many names that we could use that had a time in.
These are the names we came up with:
  • Final Curtain Call
  • Final Show
  • Play Date
  • Closing Night
We then thought of names of the film that didn't include a date, but related to our them/USP. Our unique selling point is that it is set in a theatre.
Therefore here are the names we came up with:
  • Kill the Lights
  • Break a Leg
  • Curtain Call
Although we liked all these options, we then came up with a final decision. The name of our film was going to be related to our theme of the theatre but also include an element of horror and fear as well. The name of our film is
Stage Fright.

Storyboard animation.

Our Characters/Actors.

Hollie Bowden as Emily.
Emily is the fearless one. She is the one that suggests going into the Theatre in the first place. Nothing scares Emily and she is very outgoing. Emily is the lead character and the remaining girl in the end. This is a convention used in Horror movies which we have decided to repeat.
We thought Hollie Bowden would play Emily very well as she has the tough, fearless and strong look that we imagined Emily to have.

In terms of research, the character Emily is similar to any remaining girl in Horror movies, such as Sidney in 'Scream'. She is the one that fights her way to the end, just like Emily does.

Joey Jarossi as Jacob.

Jacob is the unusual one. He is smart and quite afraid. This character is one often used in Horror films. In our film, the twist is that Jacob is also the killer. This seems very unlikely due to him being very scared at the beginning and seeming very vulnerable.
Joey Jarossi (my partner) would play this character very well as he is very intelligent and can give off the perfect atmosphere. Joey has a  good looking, different look that emphasises how smart he is and also how he can be quite a freaky character.

This character is similar to Damien in 'The Omen' as he is a strange boy and as time goes on he is revealed as the bad guy.
This character is also a masked killer, which is a convention used in horror movies frequently.

Kyle Lo Monaco as Morgan.
Morgan is seen as the popular, good looking, typical "jock" character. He is the brightest character but everyone wants to be friends with him. Morgan is not scared and has a slight power over other characters. This kind of character normally goes out with the typical "popular" superficial girl which is why Morgan is the boyfriend of Vanessa.
We thought Kyle had the perfect look. He is good looking, athletic and stylish and we believe he can make Morgan exactly how we picture him. Kyle can easily play a ladies man and a caring boyfriend.

The character Morgan is similar to Carter in 'Final Destination' as he is the typical boyfriend.

Jessica Stevenson (Me) as Vanessa.

Vanessa is the typical popular girl in all horror movies. She is the one that is not the smartest out of all the characters and has very little knowledge of what is going on until the worst happens. Vanessa is very focused on her image and mainly on her boyfriend, Morgan. We thought I would be able to play this character well as I can show my affection. We also wanted to challenge the normal horror movie convention of having a beautiful blonde girl and use someone who was not conventionally pretty with red hair.

Vanessa's character is very similar to Terry in 'Final Destination' as she is the typical girlfriend to Carter, whom Morgan's character resembles.

Our Film Synopsis.

31 years ago in The Cherub Theatre a 7 year old boy was laughed off the stage when he forgot his lines, which led him to commit a violent suicide.
Now, in the modern day, 4 teens, Emily, Jacob, Vanessa and Vanessa’s boyfriend Morgan are sat in The Cherub Park looking for something to do. The outgoing and fearless Emily suggests they stay the night in the abandoned, supposedly haunted Cherub Theatre. The loved up couple, Vanessa, the girly girl and her handsome boyfriend Morgan are easily convinced whereas skeptical Jacob votes against it. After a while of reassuring him everything will be okay, Jacob doubtfully agrees. After telling some scary stories and eating some junk food Jacob wanders off to find the furnace. Whilst he is gone, sitting in darkness, the girls and Morgan hear crying from downstairs. The lights come on and when Jacob re-emerges he tries to reassure them that it was not him crying.
They carry on as if nothing had happened, but suddenly the lights blackout. In the confusion Vanessa reveals a deep scratch in her arm. When the lights come back on they discuss who might have been the culprit and discover Emily has blood on her hands making her seem very suspicious. Now feeling very freaked out they try to leave the building but discover that all exits are now locked. The girls try to uncover how they got locked in whilst in the theatre Jacob is being possessed by Little Benjamin (the boy who committed suicide 31 years ago). The girls go back into the theatre to find Jacob sat in the front row of the audience. They ask him 'what's wrong?' and he replies in a whisper. 'I'm rehearsing'. The girls go to get him some water but when they return to the theatre he is gone. They hear a noise from upstairs. Thinking it might be Jacob they go to investigate. They look everywhere but cannot find him. They decide to split up. Finding nothing, they all come back together. At this point the real chase starts as they see a masked figure standing on stage. Running, tripping, crying, they all try desperately to escape this hellish building. Emily has found herself back in the main theatre on stage alone. Breathing heavily, Emily backs up towards the wall as she hears a voice reciting the opening prologue of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. As the voice reads the line ‘A pair of star cross’d lovers take their life’ the camera reveals the masked figure standing behind Emily. Finally finding a quiet and safe looking room, Vanessa and Morgan realise Emily is no longer with them. Morgan tells Vanessa to stay where she is and hide while he goes to rescue their friend. Meanwhile Emily finds a secluded room, in which she enters, to find many pictures of Little Benjamin all over the room. When Vanessa is on her own she gets brutally murdered by the masked figure. Finding Emily with a room full of Benjamin pictures Morgan states how much Benjamin looks like Jacob when he was younger. Realising Vanessa is alone they rush to her aid. Emily and Morgan find her dead and the killer is nowhere to be found. Jacob comes in and immediately starts reassuring them that it was not him that murdered her. They all try hysterically to escape the theatre. Jacob gets possessed right in front of them as he finds a weapon and immediately starts trying to kill them. There is a struggle but eventually Jacob kills Morgan. After the deed is done he stands in the middle of the theatre with the two dead bodies lying around him and recites the opening prologue to Romeo and Juliet.

Location.

Joey and I went out one day to visit our location and take some pictures of it. We took pictures of the park opposite our main attraction and of course the Theatre itself.
These pictures were taken during the day time so do not have the scary and horror-like atmosphere we will have when its night time. This is why the trailer is going to be shot during the night.
We are both very happy with our location as we feel it captures the story line very well and we can really create a freaky and crazy atmosphere.

'Nightmare on Elm Street' synopsis research.

One of our tasks was to find a synopsis of a film released recently and highlight all the conventions shown throughout the synopsis. I highlighted things such as Stock Characters, Protagonists/Antagonists, Plot and Stock Situations, Themes, Icons and Background and Decor. These are all very important elements to think about whilst making a horror movie trailer.

Applying Recognisable Conventions of Trailers.

The task was to come up with some ideas for a trailer of a new slasher horror film called 'Bloodshed High' and sell it. In this video we talked about things such as:
  • Production details
  • Actors
  • The Unique Selling Point (USP)
  • Shot types
  • Target Audience
  • Soundtrack
  • Release date
All these points are important details that we must think about whilst creating our own trailers, so this practice task was a good way to prepare us for our real task.

Thursday 16 September 2010

Brainstorming our ideas.

Joey and I briefly talked about some typical conventions of horror movies. We then started to narrow down what we liked for our movie trailer. This is our brainstorm.

My Partner.

Recently we had been put into our groups. The rest of the class got put into groups of threes whereas I was put in a pair. I am now working with my good friend Joey Jarossi. I am very pleased to be working in a pair as I personally think it is less hassle to have to worry about one extra person and it means there will be less conflict. I get along amazingly with Joey and we have already started planning our trailer. We have very similar ideas which we can expand on together. We have allocated roles to make everything more organised. I am in charge of sorting out location, actors and photography and Joey is in charge of editing and cinematography. Together will come out with the storyboard and the overall idea.

Trailer Analysis.

I have decided to analyse the trailer for the film 'Don't be afraid of the dark'.

The first half of this trailer is blacked out and there is just a voice whispering over the top. Then all of a sudden, after a long pause, the first word of the title 'DON'T' appears on the screen. Each word comes up after a few seconds of clips. The title has appeared half way through the trailer whereas in other film trailers it usually appears at the end. I think the maker of this trailer has done this to make it different to every other trailer and also to increase the fear of the viewer as it comes quite suddenly.

Throughout this trailer, the action we see is mostly very fast paced and scary. This shows what sort of thing is to be expected in the film. By showing the the creatures (0:50 seconds) and the freaky art (0:58 seconds) we know that this film could possibly involve the supernatural. As well as this, near to the end of the trailer we see a child crawling under her duvet and as she pulls it up to carry on another creature jumps out. This action proves the film is not just based around humans.

In this trailer, most of the sounds heard are not music but sound effects in the film itself. However at some point a string instrument is played. It increases in volume which adds to the sinister feel of the trailer. It gives us a clue that the film is going to be scary, jumpy and possibly tense. It comes to a sudden halt when the last word of the title is revealed, which causes the audience to feel nervous.

The voice-over in this trailer is whispered and slightly echoed. Personally, I feel it is very intense because it made me feel very on edge and freaked out. I think this voice was chosen to make the audience feel exactly how I felt whilst watching it. As well as feeling nervous, I also felt very intrigued as to what this film was actually about and what was going to happen. This made me want to see it and I believe it would make others want to as well. This voice is a voice that people will definitely remember and can copy.
The clips in this trailer are shown much quicker than they are in the actual film. Due to it being a horror movie, this is done to create suspense and not give too much away. The constantly changing images/clips keeps the audience on the edge of the seat and also worried, which is normally the aim of a horror movie.
In this particular trailer, the last frame tells us the name of the director, the name of the screenplay wright and the name of the person who wrote the teleplay it was based on. Personally, I feel this information was left til last because it is not a necessity and most people don't even pay attention to this details.

This trailer really made me want to see the film and I think it would do the same for others. I believe it would convince people to want to see it more than the poster would.
The trailer of this film gives more away about what kind of film it is without giving too much away, whereas this poster just says the title and not much else can be extracted from it.

Thursday 9 September 2010

Which is more important in a trailer - images or words?

When it comes to movie trailers I personally believe images are more important than the words. An image can show the characters, setting and atmosphere of the film, whereas the words explain certain key points of the film. However, I do believe that words are important. Without words the images would create a slideshow which could get a tad boring, whereas with the words, the viewers can get a clearer view of what sort of film it is using the font, colour and arrangement of the typography.
Images are like a teaser to what the film is going to be like. It gives the viewer a visual preview and entices the audience. Without the images it is more like a written review. To conclude, in my belief I still think images are more important although I understand clearly how very important the words are.

Trailer Titles Typography.

The colour and font of a film title can hint to what the film is about and create a certain effect. The use of the words can also add to this desired effect.

This is the title/poster for the film 'The Sixth Sense'. Firstly when thinking of the phrase 'The Sixth Sense' I know the film will include supernatural elements. This phrase is written in quite a simplistic font with extended ends and is in white on a plain black background. I believe the colour of the title makes it stand out and clear. It is very bright and is almost like a light, perhaps symbolizing death (the light at the end of life). The simplicity of the font makes it very eerie and hints at a child being involved in the film. Putting this all together I can then picture what the film may entail.

This is the title/poster of the film ‘Final Destination’. Hearing the phrase I believe there are many possible situations that could happen in the film. The first thought I get is that it is about a journey. Possibly a journey where something happens or goes wrong. Looking deeper into it I split the two words apart. Starting with the word ‘Final’ I think about the end of an experience or death. With the word ‘Destination’ I purely think of a place where someone is or wants to be. Therefore putting the two words together I believe the film will be about death and where it all happened.
Looking at the font, it is quite plain and underlined. I think this symbolizes the importance of the title. I don’t believe it needs much added to it as the words explain it all. The deep red of the font, could symbolize danger in the film as red is normally associated with blood.

This is the title/poster for the film ‘Happy go lucky’. The first thing I thought was this film is a light hearted, happy film and perhaps maybe even a comedy. The words are very positive and have no sad or negative atmosphere to them.
Then looking at the title itself it is written in big, bold, red font. The font itself is not sharp at all and is very soft round the edges, which makes me think it is definitely not a horror or thriller. Although it is in red, which is usually associated with danger, the red of this title makes it look happy and lively as it is placed on a white background rather than a dark one. This title seems to be a very obvious one.

Pete Fraser.

On Wednesday 30th of June Pete Fraser, an examiner, came into our lesson and gave us a better insight into Media Studies at A2 level. He showed us some previous blogs and ways of making our blogs better. He talked about using other technologies to put on our blog, including voice recordings, video recordings and pictures as well as links to other websites.

An interesting website he talked about was Prezi.com. This website is one that lets us make a visual presentation online. I think this is a very useful thing to be able to use and it adds to the different ways of documenting our progress in this unit of work. I hope to use it soon in this course.

Our Task.

Starting A2, our assignment is to create a horror movie trailer and front cover. We will be filming, starring in and creating this trailer in our groups. Knowing this, I took into consideration what other horror movies were like, so I started looking more in depth at the trailers of them and the front covers. I looked up Horror movie trailers on the internet ( iTunes Horror Movie Trailers ). By doing this I got to see what professional horror movie trailers look like and how I could create a trailer equally as professional. We were also given the links to previous A2 blogs. This really helped me understand what to do and what not to do.
